New Movie: 21 Jump Street with Ice Cube

The popular 80's television series 21 Jump Street is being turned into a movie.  The original series starred a young, hot Johnny Depp along with Holly Robinson Peete.  It aired from 1987 to 1991 and focused on a squad of youthful-looking undercover police officers investigating
crimes in high schools, colleges, and other teenage venues.  In the movie adaptation the cops will be played by Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum who will executive produce as well.  Ice Cube is currently in negotiations to play this duo's leader, Captain Dickson.

Just Me:  If you're old enough to remember this series on television, you know this new movie is a far cry from the original.  When I think back, all I have are visions of is Johnny Depp walking around in a black leather jacket, white t-shirt, and jeans.  He didn't really have to say much at all as long as you had a chance to stare at him for an hour.  The original series was considered a drama.  But with the casting of Jonah Hill it's obvious the movie will have a considerable amount of comic relief.  So that could be a refreshing change.

The movie is now in pre-production and has a release date of March 2012.
