News: Tyler Perry's new film -- For Colored Girls

For Colored Girls
...

Alright, alright, alright Tyler Perry has yet another project in the works.  I swear it's like a full-time job trying to keep up with this guy.  I just saw his movie, Why Did I Get Married Too.  And while I was thinking about writing the review for it, this news pops up...

Perry's next film will be For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf (extremely long but powerful title).  This movie is based off of a 1975 play by Ntozake Shange.  It begins shooting in a couple of months and is scheduled to be released next winter season.  The star-studded casting for this film was recently revealed:  Janet Jackson, Jurnee Smollett, Kerry Washington, Kimberly Elise, Macy Gray, Mariah Carey, Phylicia Rashad, and Whoopi Goldberg.

Film: Precious based on the novel Push

PRECIOUS
is a new film that is co-executive produced by the billionaire boss lady herself Oprah Winfrey along with movie mogul Tyler Perry.  Precious is based on the 1996 Sapphire novel titled Push.  The story is an inspirational tale of an overweight African-American teenage girl nicknamed Precious (Gabourey Sidibe) who rises above poverty, pregnancy and physical abuse to find redemption.  Precious' mother is played by Mo'Nique who is already gaining Oscar buzz for her role as the abusive mother Mary.  Mariah Carey also appears in this movie but not like you would expect her to.  She ditches her well-known glamorous looks, makeup, and fancy clothes to play a social worker.
