Notorious filmmaker Spike Lee is working on a new film.  This news came about when Spike Lee tweeted it a couple of weeks ago...

"Wake Up. I been up since 430am. On the way to the set of THE NEW SPIKE LEE JOINT.Today is 1st Day of Shooting.Awwwwwwwwwwww Sheeeeeeeeeeeeet"

The film will take place in Brooklyn, New York which is no surprise to Spike Lee fans and the tentative title will be Red Hook Summer.  According to Blackfilm.com, in Red Hook Summer Lee will reprise his role as the outspoken, two-fiddy a week clocking, pizza delivery man 'Mookie' from his 1989 film Do the Right Thing.  There aren't too many other details about the movie yet but more news is sure to come.

If God is Willing and Da Creek Don't Rise is the second look by profound film director Spike Lee into the lives that were affected by Hurricane Katrina.  The first installment, When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts documented the story of Hurricane Katrina immediately after it happened.  Now cut to five years later and the New Orleans Saints win the Superbowl!  The city and its residents are partying and filled with joy.  And for once in a very long time there's something to celebrate by the native New Orleanians.  But this celebration would be short lived as the residents return to the reality of their hometown being no where near close to being rebuilt to its legendary status.

I am proud to say Do The Right Thing, my favorite movie by Spike Lee, is celebrating its 20th anniversary. There is a special 20th anniversary edition DVD on sale now. I, of course, already have this movie on DVD so I haven't picked up this edition, BUT I will.

Just like Spike Lee's School Daze, this movie was an instant classic for me. One of my all time favorite movies. In my opinion, it's definitely Spike Lee's best!!!!
