Alicia Keys presents Broadway show STICK FLY

Stick Fly

Synopsis:  When the LeVay family opens its house for a weekend visit, the family ends up airing more than the drapes.

The LeVay brothers have invited the women in their lives to meet their parents at their luxurious Martha’s Vineyard summer home. Younger brother Kent, who has struggled to find direction in his life, and has issues getting along with his father, brings his fiancée Taylor, who studies insects for her vocation. Taylor was raised in a lower-middle-class household by a single mother. Unaccustomed to privilege, she is uncomfortable in the LeVays’ home, especially with Cheryl, who is filling in for her mother as the LeVays’ maid. Eldest brother Flip, a successful plastic surgeon and womanizer, brings his new girlfriend, Kimber, who is privileged, white and has spent her life appalled by her status.

Tensions flair as race, class and family become prime conversation topics. When a phone call reveals a family secret, everything unravels. By the end of the weekend, lives have been turned upside-down and a family is left to reassemble the pieces.

Alicia Keys is a producer and also created the music score for the show.

The MotherF**ker With the Hat is a new broadway show with Chris Rock

The name alone is enough to make me want to go see this show.  Chris Rock has been busy.  He's had his own television show, makes movies, produced a great documentary, and still finds time to do stand up.  And now he's on Broadway.  He will be joined on stage with Bobby Cannavale and Annabella Sciorra

About the show:  THE MOTHERF**KER WITH THE HAT is a new high-octane, verbal cage match about love, fidelity and misplaced haberdashery from playwright Stephen Adly Guirgis. Jackie and Veronica have been in love since the 8th grade. But now, Jackie is on parole and living clean and sober under the guidance of his sponsor, Ralph D, while still living with and loving his volatile soul mate Veronica who is fiercely loving, but far from sober. Still, their love is pure. And true. Nothing can come between them – except a hat.

Broadway Play: The Scottsboro Boys went unseen by so many and tries to gather support to come back to Broadway

The Scottsboro Boys

THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS is the thrilling final collaboration by musical theatre giants John Kander and Fred Ebb (Chicago, Cabaret). This critically-acclaimed production comes to Broadway following a sold-out run at the Vineyard Theatre.

Directed by 5-time Tony® Award winner Susan Stroman (The Producers) and featuring a book by David Thompson (who adapted the script for Chicago's
record-breaking revival), this daring and wildly entertaining musical
explores a fascinating chapter in American history with arresting
originality. The show is based on the notorious "Scottsboro" case in the
1930s, in which 9 African-American men were unjustly accused of a
terrible crime.

Their shocking and inspiring story - told though a
mix of innovative staging and piercing new songs - demands to be shared.
So gather 'round... and join THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS on their remarkable journey.

This show ran on Broadway in New York for only six weeks.  And they want to make a comeback.  Go to the website and learn how you can support this show and bring it back to the stage.

News: Debbie Allen will direct and choreograph TWIST

IT'S THE STORY OF OLIVER WITH A NEW TWIST!!!

The LEGENDARY Debbie Allen will be choreographing and directing the new musical Twist, a revitalized adaptation of Charles Dicken's Oliver Twist.  The new spin on this treasured tale is that the story will take place in New Orleans during the roaring 1920's during the Prohibition years and follows an orphan of mixed race as he searches for a home.  In the city's Jewel Box speakeasy he finds parental comfort along with friendship with the other kids trying to survive on the street.

The musical is based on the novel Twist written by Tony Award-winning William F. Brown who also is the man behind the 1980's urban classic The Wiz.  Developing the musical score for Twist will be Grammy Award-winning Tena Clark and Gary Prim.
