New film about N.W.A. "The World's Most Dangerous Group"

Back in March of 2009 it was announced that there would be a film biopic about the 'World's Most Dangerous Group", N.W.A.  The film will be produced by Ice Cube (Cube Vision), Dr. Dre, and Eazy E's widow Tomica Woods.  The film is still considered to be in development.  No news is available about just who will play the illicit, electrifying rappers from Compton, California.  But a writer for this biopic has been chosen...

Screenwriter Andrea Berloff (World Trade Center) has reportedly been hired to pen the film.  Oh and did I mention she's white.  Yes white.  Now me...I could care less.  I feel like the producers should hire whoever they think is best for the job.  And Cube has a track record  that's more than decent when it comes to producing film and television.  So I'm not worried.  But some people don't understand why a white women would be hired to write the story of this rap entourage that practically put west coast music on the map forever.

About N.W.A.
The group N.W.A. (Niggaz Wit Attitudes) was founded by Compton-based former drug dealer Eazy-E who put together Ruthless Records along with Jerry Heller.  N.W.A. released their second album Straight Outta Compton in 1988 which introduced the group to the world.  The song 'Fuck tha Police' on this album which protested police brutality and racial profiling would be their most notorious song to date.

While the group was later credited with pioneering the burgeoning sub genre of gangsta rap, N.W.A referred to their music as "reality rap".  As the rap group rose to fame almost overnight even without radio play and being banned from many venues in the U.S., their ride would be short lived.  In 1990 Ice Cube left the group over royalty disputes and immediately began a solo career.  N.WA. would release one more album in 1991, 'Niggaz 4 Life',  before mega-producer Dr. Dre would also leave and join Death Row Records.  A lot of album disses and animosity between the group members occurred throughout the early '90s.  But this would all cease when word of Eazy E's death came about on March 26, 1995.  As the group members mourned the loss of Eazy E they would reunite and express the feelings they had for their one time friend.
